Covering 12,000 hectares, the Gulf of Morbihan is a veritable inland sea dotted with islets. It’s a magical place where sea, land and sky combine to create ever-changing landscapes. It’s hardly surprising that the Golfe du Morbihan is part of the prestigious club of the World’s Most Beautiful Bays. The gulf offers a beautiful setting for welcoming more than 1,200 traditional sailing boats for a week. These boats are divided into 13 homogenous flotillas (sailing and rowing boats, classic yachts, old fishing boats, etc.) plus around thirty spectacular European heritage sailing boats. These flotillas will stop off in turn in the 19 towns and villages taking part in the event (Arradon, Arzon, Auray, Baden, Crac’h, Hoedic, Houat, Ile d’Arz, Ile aux Moines, Larmor-Baden, Le Bono, Le Hézo, Locmariaquer, Plougoumelen, Saint Armel, Saint Gildas de Rhyus, Sarzeau, Séné, Vannes). All the boats come together for the big parade that closes the event, putting on a superb nautical show.
As well as the spectacle offered by the boats sailing on the gulf, all the towns hosting sailing boats put on festivities throughout the week: oyster tastings, concerts, exhibitions, popular dances, fireworks displays, etc. Make the most of your camping holiday in Morbihan to take part in the big Semaine du Golfe party!
