Brittany is a natural wonderland with stunningly beautiful wild coastlines. Its coastline offers a rare variety of landscapes, including rocky outcrops, long sandy beaches, vertiginous cliffs and abers. The Pink Granite Coast, the steep rocks that defy the ocean in Finistère and the peaceful beauty of the Gulf of Morbihan leave no one indifferent. You can return a hundred times and each time it will be a new delight. In terms of towns, Brittany is steeped in the Middle Ages, with cities whose stones tell the story of this region that has managed to preserve its authentic character. SAINT-MALO, QUIMPER, RENNES and VANNES are all invitations to take a journey through time during your camping holiday in Brittany.

Campsites in Brittany between Rennes and Saint-Malo

Like the rest of Brittany, Ille-et-Vilaine boasts a stunning coastline, including the Emerald Coast, which stretches from Cancale to Cap Fréhel. It owes its nickname to the colour of its waters, which shimmer with emerald hues. However, as beautiful as this coastline is, Ille-et-Vilaine also stands out for its incredible heritage, of which Saint-Malo is the jewel. This fortified city balances between land and sea. From Grand Bé, the island opposite Saint-Malo, accessible on foot at low tide, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the city. In addition to Saint-Malo, Ille-et-Vilaine is full of sites steeped in history, such as the beautiful city of Rennes, the capital of Brittany, Fougère, a fortified town that is home to nothing less than the largest medieval fortress in Europe, and the elegant seaside resort of Dinard with its Belle Epoque charm. There are so many places to visit during your camping holiday in Brittany in Ille-et-Vilaine.

Camping in the Côtes d’Armor

The Côtes d’Armor region is particularly notable for its stunning natural sites, such as Cap d’Erquy – Cap Fréhel. The latter is one of the most beautiful places in Brittany. At Cap Fréhel, there are 70-metre-high pink sandstone cliffs. The GR34 hiking trail connects Cap d’Erquy and Cap Fréhel. This is a superb walk that is not to be missed during your camping holiday in Brittany in the Côtes d’Armor. Off the coast of the Côtes d’Armor, the island of Bréhat awaits you for a walk or bike ride. This island, which was the first natural site to be classified in France in 1907, is a small natural paradise where agapanthus flowers bloom. It can be reached by boat from Ploubazlanec. In the east of the Côtes d’Armor, the Pink Granite Coast offers visitors pink-hued rocks in surprising shapes. A veritable open-air museum that can be explored by walking along the customs officers’ path.

Campsites in Finistère, facing the ocean

At the tip of Brittany, Finistère faces the ocean. While it is home to towns with a distinctly Breton character, such as Concarneau, Douarnenez and Quimper, Finistère’s main attraction is undoubtedly its rocky, rugged coastline, which defies the waves of the Atlantic. The Pointe du Raz is undoubtedly the most iconic site. More than anywhere else, Finistère truly deserves its name: the end of the earth. Sculpted by the winds and the ocean, this gigantic 70-metre-high rock plunges into the water like a giant stone ship. It is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular sites in Brittany. It alone is reason enough to choose Brittany and Finistère for your next camping holiday. However, it should not overshadow the Crozon peninsula and its vast expanses of heathland or the Bay of Morlaix dotted with islands and islets.

Campsites in the Gulf of Morbihan

With Carnac and its rows of standing stones, the charming port of Saint Goustan in Auray and the Quiberon peninsula, where the magnificent landscapes of the Côte Sauvage stretch out, Morbihan is just as interesting as the other departments of Brittany. However, it is the gulf that gave it its name that makes a camping holiday in Morbihan worthwhile. This inland sea with its changing colours offers new landscapes at every moment of the day. A string of 42 islands is scattered across it. Some, such as Île aux Moines or Île d’Arz, the wildest of them all, offer holidaymakers some very beautiful walks.

We Love Camping
