To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Notin caravan and motorhome brand, some sixty caravans and motorhomes ranging from the 1930s to the 1980s gathered in Azay-le-Rideau over the Whitsun weekend.
This gathering, organized by enthusiasts of retro camping and the Notin brand, should have taken place last year, but Covid had decided otherwise. A year later, it was a great success and a fine tribute to the 100-year-old brand (101 years old, after all!). On the banks of the Indre River, a truly timeless campsite was set up. Not only was it possible to see some very fine Notin caravans from the last century, but also the vehicles associated with them, along with many of the old American cars that Notin caravan owners appreciated. These caravans, which never weighed less than a ton, had to be towed. In addition to the caravans and their cars, the pitches were decorated with vintage camping equipment. The oldest caravan at the gathering, probably the oldest Notin caravan still running, dated from 1938. Although caravans were in the vast majority at this event, a few motorhomes were also present. Here’s a video look back at this successful anniversary, with a presentation of the caravans from some of the enthusiasts present at Azay-le-Rideau.
